Emerald City Commons

Seattle, WA

Client: Mercy Housing / Urban Impact

Function: Multifamily

Area: 100,000 SF

Emerald City Commons is a 100,000-square-foot, 61-unit affordable housing development in Seattle, developed by Mercy Housing in partnership with Urban Impact to support the needs of low-income families with children. Larger three-bedroom units are positioned to extend outward from the building, giving parents natural sightlines to watch children playing in the outdoor public spaces below while also improving ventilation. The design incorporates cost-efficient, low-VOC materials to reduce allergens, alongside secured parking and entries, a fitness center, a computer center, and a large common area for community and enrichment programming. Emerald City Commons demonstrates how thoughtful, family-centered design can deliver quality, dignified housing without compromise.
